Tarik Skubal made his Dodgers debut Tuesday against the Cubs and delivered a pedestrian outing. The two-time Cy Young winner found the strike zone just 51 times on 85 pitches, a concerning efficiency number for a pitcher of his caliber. Los Angeles never gave him a chance to work through it anyway. The offense managed one run, leaving Skubal stranded as the Dodgers fell 5-1. It's not the statement performance the trade deadline acquisition wanted to make in Los Angeles, but this one falls squarely on the lineup's shoulders. Skubal didn't have his best stuff, sure, but he didn't blow the game open either. The Dodgers simply didn't show up to help him.
