Corey Heim won't wait until 2027 to test himself in NASCAR's Cup Series. The 23XI Racing driver will compete part-time in the premier class throughout 2026, using this season as a preparation ground before his full-time promotion two years out.
This is a calculated development plan. Heim runs full-time in the Craftsman Truck Series now, where he's established himself as a serious prospect. Rather than go from trucks straight to Cup racing at age 25, he'll get meaningful reps against Cup competition while still maintaining his truck schedule.
23XI is basically running a trial here. Part-time rides let Heim learn the tracks, the setup differences, and the speed without the pressure of a full season. He'll see what adjustments he needs to make before the organization slots him into a regular ride permanently.
This approach makes sense for both sides. Heim gets invaluable experience against the best drivers in the sport. 23XI gets to evaluate whether he's ready for the full workload and whether he can compete at this level consistently. If 2026 goes well, his 2027 Cup debut becomes less of a gamble and more of a known entity.
