Jackson Chourio hit his 20th home run Saturday night, becoming only the third player to reach that mark in three straight seasons before turning 23. The Brewers outfielder joined an exceptionally rare club with this accomplishment. Few hitters maintain that kind of power output that early in their careers, let alone do it with consistency across multiple years.
Chourio's pace matters. This isn't a one-year wonder who happened to get hot. He's proven he can produce at this level repeatedly while still in his early twenties. That durability and sustained production separate the legitimate prospects from the flash-in-the-pan guys who catch fire for a season then regress.
The Brewers are building something around Chourio. A young core player who can hit for power, stay healthy, and produce in consecutive seasons gives a franchise a foundation to build around for the next decade. Milwaukee needed this kind of output from him, especially given the team's competitive window and the lineup holes they've needed to fill.
