North Dakota State announced its arrival in FBS football with a 33-7 demolition of Jacksonville State on Saturday. The Bison, moving up from the FCS after winning 10 national titles at that level, wasted no time proving they belong among the nation's elite programs.
Nathan Hayes managed the game efficiently for NDSU, completing 14 of 22 passes for two touchdowns. The offense didn't need to get fancy. Myles Mitchell ground out 74 rushing yards as the Bison controlled the line of scrimmage throughout.
Jacksonville State never posed a real threat. The Gamecocks managed only seven points in what amounted to a showcase performance for NDSU's first official FBS game. The Bison defense shut down any offensive rhythm Jacksonville State tried to establish.
