Jonny DeLuca tied it with a solo shot off Padres reliever Mason Miller in the ninth inning. The Rays weren't done. Jorge Mateo singled home the winning run in the 11th as Tampa Bay completed a sweep of San Diego.

DeLuca's homer forced extra innings after the Padres had built what looked like a comfortable lead. Miller couldn't hold the door closed when it mattered most. Mateo's clutch hit in the 11th finished what DeLuca started, giving the Rays another victory in their dominant series performance.

The sweep puts Tampa Bay in solid position heading forward, while San Diego leaves empty-handed despite seeming positioned to salvage at least one game.
