Medvedev beat Tsitsipas at Shanghai to advance to the quarterfinals, adding another victory to their head-to-head record. The two have clashed repeatedly over the years, and this win keeps Medvedev moving through the draw at one of the tour's biggest fall events. Tsitsipas came in as a threat but couldn't find the answers against Medvedev's baseline game and serve. The Russian is now one match away from the semis in Shanghai, where the competition tightens considerably. This matchup has always gone back and forth between them, but Medvedev's consistency in these encounters continues to pay off when it matters most.
