Fantasy hockey managers need to stay calm early in the season. Slow-starting scorers who produced last year will bounce back, so hold them rather than panic-sell. The waiver wire offers better value than you think right now.
Goalies especially warrant patience. Some starters stumble out of the gate due to rust, cold stretches, or matchup luck. Pulling the trigger on a change too early burns a roster spot and leaves you chasing problems that solve themselves. Check if your guy faces a soft schedule coming up before you cut bait.
The real move is working the free agent pool. Depth players and role guys always outperform preseason projections once lines settle and coaches find their rhythm. Stream position where you can. Add volume guys getting consistent ice time in the first three weeks, even if the names don't jump out.
Don't overreact to week-one results. Last year's keeper league winners often looked like disasters in October. The inverse is true in reverse. Your roster construction matters more right now than weekly waiver scrambling. Make one or two calculated adds based on opportunity, not panic. The season is long. Let it play out.
