William Eklund is out 10 to 12 weeks after surgery on a torn tendon in his ankle. The Senators forward suffered the injury last week against the Flyers.

That's a massive blow to Ottawa's depth up front. Eklund has been a useful piece in their lineup, and losing him for nearly three months removes a contributor they'll struggle to replace internally. The team now faces weeks of patching the hole with call-ups and adjusting their forward rotation on the fly.

The Senators already face questions about their roster construction. Now they'll have to answer them without one of their better forward options available.
