This is a brutal blow for Sacramento. Simmons had impressed during training camp on short notice, giving the Kings depth at a position where they need it. Now the 30-year-old veteran will go under the knife and face the long rehab road that comes with Achilles injuries.
The Kings banked on Simmons to contribute this season. That plan is over.
