Verstappen salvaged a rough day at the GT World Challenge, climbing from 24th on the grid to ninth at the finish. The Red Bull driver never got close to the podium he wanted, though, after officials handed him a drive-through penalty that killed his momentum when a podium result still looked possible. The comeback kept him off the bottom of the results sheet, but this wasn't the performance Verstappen needed in the endurance racing format. He'll need a cleaner weekend next time out to challenge for wins in this series.
