Vincent Kompany has been discharged from hospital after collapsing at Bayern Munich's training ground last Friday. A meningeal irritation caused the collapse, according to board member Max Eberl.
Kompany missed media duties before Bayern's Champions League match against Arsenal due to a viral infection but made it to the dugout for the 2-2 draw. He was hospitalized after the incident at a second-team training session.
"He was discharged from the hospital today. That is the biggest and best news for all of us," Eberl told ARD ahead of Bayern's German Cup win over Magdeburg, 6-1. "He will now rest and take medication and I am certain that he will very soon be back on the touchline, operating at 100 per cent."
No return date has been set. Kompany will only resume duties after receiving medical clearance from Bayern's doctors.
Assistant manager Aaron Danks, who has taken charge of the team, said there is no timeline for Kompany's return. "His health is our number one priority and for us he is still in recovery mode so we want him to get back to full health, full fitness and then join us," Danks said after Bayern's 3-1 win at Freiburg.
Bayern lead the Bundesliga and face Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
