Christian Watson returned to the field in the third quarter of Green Bay's Week 8 matchup against Carolina after a chest injury sent him to a hospital near Lambeau Field for precautionary tests. He spit up blood upon sustaining the injury on a 53-yard reception in the first half, which triggered the Packers' medical staff to transport him. Tests ruled out internal bleeding and cleared him to play.

Watson collided with Panthers cornerback Will Lee III on the play. Lee suffered a hamstring injury and was ruled doubtful to return.

Before leaving, Watson caught six passes for 100 yards in the first half. Jordan Love completed 17 of his first 20 passes with Watson on the field.

Watson returned wearing extra padding around his ribs. On his first play back, he didn't catch the pass but added two receptions in the fourth quarter, including one that converted a third down late in the game.

"I never wanted to go," Watson said. "I was hoping they would let me off. I said I was feeling better once I kind of caught my breath. Thankfully it was good enough to where I could come back out here. I'm trying to be on the football field. That's first and foremost for me."

Matthew Golden stepped in as the No. 1 receiving option during Watson's absence and caught a touchdown on the Packers' first possession without him. Tucker Kraft also played an increased role downfield.

Watson has missed 20 games across five seasons with the Packers due to various injuries. He has yet to play a full season.
