Andrew Novak won the Mexico Open at Vidanta Vallarta for his first individual PGA Tour title. He shot 69 in the final round to finish 25-under par and win by five shots.
Novak had rounds of 61 and 62 in the previous two days and built a six-shot lead. A bogey on the 10th cut it to three over Steven Fisk and Kristoffer Ventura. Novak answered with three straight birdies on holes 12, 13, and 14, including a 45-foot putt on the 14th. "That kind of really settled everything," he said.
Fisk and Ventura each shot 63 to tie for second. Ventura's runner-up finish was his best as an individual and moved him to No. 76 in the FedEx Cup, locking up his 2027 card after sitting at No. 108. Mackenzie Hughes of Canada shot 66 and tied for fourth with Ben Griffin, who was Novak's partner when they won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans last year. Hughes moved to No. 101 in the FedEx Cup with three tournaments remaining.
Novak said he didn't have his best day. He missed two birdie chances inside 10 feet on the front nine and made par on the par-5 third when his second shot plugged into a bunker lip. "I played really well on the front and didn't get much out of it," he said.
The win moved Novak from No. 89 to No. 53 in the FedEx Cup, putting him in position for two $20 million signature events next year at Pebble Beach and Riviera. It also locks him into the upper Championship Series for 2028.
