Leclerc outbraked himself going into Turn 4 at Mexico City and cut the corner to pass Hamilton on Lap 1. Verstappen slipped through while Hamilton went briefly off track. Stewards penalized Leclerc five seconds, which allowed Verstappen to overtake him during the pit stop phase. Verstappen won. Hamilton finished second. Leclerc finished fourth.

Hamilton called for "serious talks behind the scenes." He said the incident cost Ferrari the win, though he acknowledged the team improved the car and scored good points overall.

Team principal Frederic Vasseur said his pre-Brazil discussion with the drivers will be "a matter of respect." He emphasized the drivers work for the team and its 2,000 employees, not themselves.

This marks the latest clash between Hamilton and Leclerc since they became teammates at the start of 2025. Hamilton previously accused Ferrari of having "no rules" after an incident at the Italian Grand Prix in September and demanded "rules of engagement" like he had at Mercedes.
